Our Values are focused on Kaitiakitanga leading to Rangatiratanga. Our Arohatia for this project requires us to practice Manaakitanga and join together with Kotahitanga under Matauranga Maori to achieve our project goals.
Kaitiakitanga – Provision of active utilisation, preservation, conservation, maintenance, and management of the environs (including flora, fauna, aquatic and marine).
Rangitiratanga – The chiefly right to determine use and management of the natural environment.
Arohatia – Duty of care and responsibility to this Kaupapa, each other and iwi.
Manaakitanga – To care for each other, to be respectful, and an act of reciprocity of natural resources to be shared with others.
Kotahitanga – Unity of purpose and collective agreement for achievement of outcomes and goals.
Matauranga Māori – Acceptance and acknowledgment of Māori epistemologies with the construction of key concepts and projects.
Mauri – The principle life force of our environs is protected including their tapu and wairua.
Registration of your land with the Tōtara for Tōtaranui Project is voluntary. It allows us to collate which land owners wish to be involved in the project. It is the first step in the process of restoring Queen Charlotte Sound / Tōtaranui for future generations. You agree that by registering your land that we will contact you regarding your involvement in the project. Please note that we need to scope and develop the integrated catchment management plans before any work programmes can be developed. All work is subject to funding availability.
