World Orca Day was launched by Dr Ingrid N. Visser from Orca Research Trust on the 8th of November 2013, at the World Whale Conference, in Boston USA. The inaugural observation day was 14 July 2014.
World Orca Day is a celebration of the species and to raise awareness of orca in the wild and the threats they face.
This year the nation is getting behind the work being done to support Toa (Brave) in Wellington while the Department of Conservation try to find his pod. This is the last known photo of Toa with his mum.
